These Mountains

The Olympic Mountains are insane.  As a Florida native, I'm not sure if I'll ever get used to elevation changes and seeing rocky peaks in the distance, but I like it that way.  I kind of feel like it's my East Coast mentality that has assumed you have to spend a fortune to have any sort of beautiful view from your house so the first time I saw the view from my street, let alone my front door I was, and still am, in shock.

I literally screamed and threw my phone at Tricia last Monday on the way to the airport when I noticed Mount Rainer was out.  I realized right then that my new obsession taking pictures of the exact same view, every single day, has become somewhat equated to parents who take pictures of their kids doing the exact same thing every single second. I just can't get over these beauties though.  We are so lucky to live in the middle of TWO mountain ranges, but being able to see the outline of the Olympics across the water almost every single day made me decide I had to visit them as soon as possible.  Of course Mason doesn't need any convincing because he spent a month backpacking them before college, but this weekend, we decided to spend our first Thanksgiving away from our families as our own family, camping in the Olympics.

I'm just hoping I didn't get myself into some crazy winter camping trip where I have to burrow under the snow for warmth and for the next week I will continue to take my compulsive mountain view pictures and obsessively send them to my friends and family.  Sorry there's not an UnMountainMe app.... I'm not sorry.

The first two pictures were taken from my house.  (OMG I KNOW?!) The last pictures were taken at Golden Gardens Park.
